The Noida administration is considering shifting the reference lab for dengue testing from Fortis Hospital in Noida to the government-run National Institute of Biologicals (NIB). The change is being considered because of apprehensions expressed by the Indian Medical Association over having the centre at a private hospital, because of which other private hospitals may not send samples to it. Only four dengue cases have been confirmed in Noida so far.

“We are considering an arrangement with NIB run by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. If it works out, all hospitals and nursing homes would send them samples for dengue confirmation tests,” said Dr ML Mishra, district chief medical officer. The process, however, has not started yet.
