Depressed over friend's death, man shoots self

Vijay Singh committed suicide at his office in south Delhi's Okhla on Monday afternoon. Singh, who lived with his family at S-block in Greater Kailash Part-II, left three separate suicide notes in which he said that he was taking this step according to his own wish.
A senior police officer said the victim mentioned that his best friend Rajan's early demise was one of the reasons behind the extreme step.
"We found Rajan's photograph on the table. On enquiry we learnt that Singh was very close to him and had been depressed after Rajan committed suicide around two and a half years back," said the senior officer.
The matter came to police notice at around 1.30pm on Monday, after one of the employees at Singh's office in C-block, Okhla Phase-II, called them. After getting the call, a police team reached the spot and learnt that two employees of the company heard a gunshot from inside Singh's cabin, which had been bolted from inside.
"We broke open the door to find Singh lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Singh had shot himself in the head with his licensed .32 bore revolver. We immediately rushed him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where the doctors pronounced him brought dead," the officer said. He added that Singh had written separate suicide notes for his wife Poonam, son Varun and employees of his company.
According to the officer, Varun has done a course in management from a foreign university and had been associated with his father's sister concern company that deals in domestic commodities.
