“Though we don’t view the scaffolding as a negative feature, the current state of affairs have led to a decline in the number of shoppers visiting us,” said Atul Bhargava, president of New Delhi Traders’ Association.

The waning number of shoppers this year has led to cancellation of the annual winter shopping festival.

“We did anticipate a dip in sales, but not to this extent,” added Bhargava.

NDMC Spokesman Anand Tiwari said, “We have attempted to make sure that at least one part of the outer circle is available to the public at all times.”

Sunil Tickoo, general manager of QBA Bar and Restaurant, said, “Due to lack of parking and the general mess, visitors will definitely give coming to CP a second thought.”
