Discoms told to gear up for summer

The Delhi government has asked power distributions companies to make arrangements for summer with the power demand in the city set to cross the 6,000-MW mark this year.

The Delhi government has asked power distributions companies to make arrangements for summer with the power demand in the city set to cross the 6,000-MW mark this year.

Delhi power minister Haroon Yusuf asked all bodies responsible for power generation and supply to wind up efforts to upgrade their systems by April 15 to ensure that there are fewer power cuts this season.

"We have directed all the bodies to review their situation and complete repairs by April 15," said Yusuf, referring to the minister's direction to discoms to gear up to meet the expected power demand.
