Most complaints are coming from areas like South Extension and Sarita Vihar in south Delhi and Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Nagar in north Delhi.
"The problem has been persisting for the past 10 days and it has only intensified over the past week. Even though phone lines are working, we are unable to use our broadband connection. Even though we have complained to customer care several times, we have only been told that there is some problem in the system," said Rajesh Kumar, a resident of South Extension, Part-1, who has an Airtel connection.
Airtel however claims that the disruption is a temporary problem which is likely to be ironed out soon. "There was some unscheduled maintenance work that had interrupted user experience. But it has almost been rectified and services will be normal again soon," said an Airtel spokesperson.
In some parts of Sarita Vihar and GTB Nagar, MTNL's phone and internet lines have been disrupted. "We are not aware of any complaints and we do not keep track of them either. If customers are facing a problem, we can't really do much.
They need to get in touch with their local area offices," said JP Sharma, MTNL's public relation officer.
