"The roads which are closed for facilitating the construction works will handed back to authorities by January or maximum by February," Mangu Singh, Director (Works), DMRC told reporters in New Delhi.

He was responding to a query on the police directing DMRC to clear works on the roads immediately as the period of time alloted to divert the traffic has already expired.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had asked the DMRC last month to hand over the roads so that the beautification of roads can be expedited in view of the Commonwealth Games.

The roads which are currently with the DMRC includes Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Panchkuian Road, Mother Teresa Crescent, Vikas Marg, Tughlak Road, Humayun Road, Aurobindo Marg, M B Road and M G road. The road near Lady Sri Ram College is also with the DMRC.

DMRC is expected to handover Vikas Marg and other areas in east Delhi as the construction of the Yamuna Bank-Anand Vihar stretch is almost over.
