"...accused Shambhoo Kumar was responsible for administering a poisonous substance to his employer and his family members in order to facilitate the commission of offence of theft" said Additional Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna, while sentencing Shambhoo.
Shambhoo was employed as a domestic servant by Anil Maheshwari in his house at Civil Lines in north Delhi and was residing in the servant's quarter of the premises.

On July 22, last year, Shambhoo prepared dinner. On consuming it, Maheshwari family members soon fell unconscious and Shambhoo, along with co-accused Ranjay and Krishna, fled with valuables.
Shambhoo was nabbed a day later and proceeded against while the case against Ranjay and Krishna was pursued separately in a juvenile court. The stolen articles too were recovered from their possession.
