The drunk gang of five-out on an adventurous binge to celebrate a new SUV on Friday night - had gone to great lengths to avoid being waylaid by a police party, after they abducted a nightclub's junior supervisor, but couldn't succeed.

"Throughout the two-hour, high-speed chase, the gang had taken decisive steps to dodge us. First, by taking away the mobile phones from the victim and her associates to delay a PCR call, then, on the suggestion of one drunk gang member, taking a 'kachcha' road through the fields to Faridabad and finally by removing their temporary number plate to avoid being identified," said a senior police officer.

However, the gang, whose members are aged between 22 to 28 years and is composed of four Faridabad residents and one from Ballabhgarh, was done-in by its own lack of common sense.

"During questioning, they revealed that the first thing they did was to remove their car's number plate. That is what alerted a patrolling party to their involvement: an evidently new SUV without a number plate taking random and fast U-turns in the middle of the night," the officer said.

Sources said the gang had first tried to get through to a pub in MGF Mall, Gurgaon, before going to the adjacent Sahara Mall where the men spotted the victims.

According to police, the victims, who are all related to each other and stay at the same accommodation, were en route their residence in southeast Delhi's Badarpur in an NCR cab when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, a Delhi Police team has been sent to Faridabad's Mujesar area to ascertain the criminal records of Kartar and Pramod Singh which, according to Mujesar Police Station SHO Dalbir Singh, does not exist.
