More than 1,400 DTC buses were put on Games duty to ferry athletes, officials, technical officers, mediapersons, volunteers and security personnel from hotels and the Games village to the sporting venues and back.

Addressing a press conference, Lovely said these buses have slowly started rolling out on city duty. "Based on the feedback that we received from the public, we have started deploying these buses on routes where we have fewer buses," he said.

He said attempts were being made to ensure a robust public transport system is available across the city. "We have also asked feedback from the Delhi Metro. Areas where Metro network is either over-crowded or completely missing, we will deploy more DTC buses. Also on routes where Metro system is running below its capacity, we will have fewer DTC buses," Lovely said.

The DTC is also going to introduce electronic ticketing system in DTC buses. Instead of the conventional paper tickets, the passengers will be issued computerised tickets on the buses. "The tickets will have fare and origin and destination stop printed in it. It will do away with any confusion regarding fare between two bus stops," said Lovely.

Congratulating the work-force and the transport department for providing a “reliable and punctual DTC bus service” during the Games, Lovely said the corporation earned an additional R60 crore during the Games.
