DU admissions: Joint Admission Test for 3 business courses on June 20

Delhi University will conduct the Joint Admission Test (JAT) on June 20 for admission to Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis) and BA (Honors) Business Economics.

There are 991 seats on offer in the three courses, admission to which will be based on candidate’s performance in the entrance test followed by a group discussion and personal interview. The test will be between 4pm and 6pm.

Entrance Test

Teachers said there is no prescribed syllabus or format for the entrance test but the questions will be mostly from English, Mathematics, General Aptitude and Business Knowledge.

“The areas that have been usually included in the entrance test in the past are quantitative ability, reasoning and analytical ability, general English, business and general awareness,” said Kumar Bijoy, who teaches at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies.

The two-hour entrance test will contain multiple choice questions and there will be negative marking for wrong answers. For BMS and BBA (FIA) there will be group discussion and personal interview.

“The weightage given to entrance exam will be 85% and 15% for GD and interview,” said S P Aggarwal, principal of Ramanujan College and the nodal officer for JAT.

Eligibility

A student who wants to apply for theses courses must clear Class 12 board exams with a minimum of 60% in best of four four subjects, including English, Mathematics and two other elective subjects. Foreign students seeking admission will have to apply through the Foreign Students Advisor.

Career Prospects

Those pursuing BMS will have the option of specialising in the final year in one of the three fields — Finance, Marketing and Human Resource, after which they can become financial analysts, data analysts or financial researchers. Students pursuing BBA (FIA) can go for jobs in fund management and financial management. The BA (Hons) Business Economics course prepares students to work in banking or financial institutions.
