DU awards 67,000 degrees, 485 PhDs

The academic edge of male students at Delhi University (DU) stood severely blunted on Saturday as their female counterparts walked away with the biggest chunk of medals during the varsity’s 87th convocation ceremony.

The academic edge of male students at Delhi University (DU) stood severely blunted on Saturday as their female counterparts walked away with the biggest chunk of medals during the varsity’s 87th convocation ceremony.

Girls outshone boys as they bagged 105 medals out of the total 134, which were awarded by R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to the central government, to recognise excellence both at the graduate and postgraduate level.

The ceremony also marked the awarding of 67,000 degrees along with a record number of 485 Ph.D degrees.

The convocation ceremony was aired live on the varsity's official website du.ac.in for the first time. The ceremony was viewed online by 2,000 people.
