The rescued trader has been identified as Rakesh Rajput, 32, a resident of Faridabad, and police said the kidnappers had invested money through him in the share market.

The accused made two ransom calls to the victim's business partner on Saturday; the latter informed the police. The arrested have been identified as Mahesh Sharma (28), online trader, Dinesh Sisodia (32), a web designer, and Dharmender (25) and Mohammed Akram (22).

During investigations, it came to light that Rajput had scheduled a meeting at a shopping complex in Preet Vihar with one Ajay who had invested Rs 9.10 lakh on behalf of his friend with him for future trading in shares.

"In the meantime, Rajput's friend Lavnish and another business associate Deepak Garg started receiving ransom calls. A deal was struck and the ransom amount was scheduled to be dropped at Bhajanpura crossing. We laid a trap and these four were arrested," Prabhakar, DCP (east) said.

According to a senior officer, Dharmender had lent Rs 10 lakh to Sisodia, who gave the money to Mahesh. Mahesh had given the money for investment to Ajay, who had asked Rajput to invest in future trading of shares. On Friday, Rajput and Ajay agreed to meet at PSK, Preet Vihar, to settle some outstanding issues.

"The news of the meeting was somehow leaked to Mahesh. Dharmender, Dinesh Sisodia and Akram along with two more unknown person abducted Rajput in two cars to get back their money," the officer added.
