DU undergraduate registrations close, over 2.5 lakh applications received
As the university’s undergraduate registration process ended on Wednesday, English received the most number of applications, followed by BA Programme, Political Science (Hons) and Economics (Hons).
As the university’s undergraduate registration process ended on Wednesday, English received the most number of applications, followed by BA Programme, Political Science (Hons) and Economics (Hons).
English (Hons) received 1,15,786 applications out of a total of 250,220 applications. The total number of students who have paid for the application could increase further, as university has given time up to midnight to pay the application fees.
However, at present the application is less compared to that of last year. The university had last year received 2,91,819 applications.
This year the humanities subjects have received the most number of applications after English Hons. Last year after English it was the BCom and BCom (Hons) which had received second and third most applications, this year their numbers have seen a dip. This year BA (Hons) history has received higher number of applications than BCom (Hons).
Out of the total applications, Delhi region has the most applications, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Now with the registration process over, students will now have to wait till June 30, when the first cutoff list will be declared.
For students seeking admission under the Sports quota, fitness test and trials will begin on June 24. University has said that the candidates should report 30 minutes before the scheduled time of fitness trial with proper playing kit. This year, students will have to give fitness test for each individual game, unlike last year, when the fitness test was centralised.
After the declaration of cutoff, students cannot directly go to colleges. They first have to log in to the DU UG admission portal using their registered email id and password and select the college/course in which they wish to take admission and meet the desired cutoff criterion.
Then with the admission form and original certificates, the students will have to go to the college for verification.
“The college will retain the certificates of approved candidate in order to avoid multiple admissions. The certificates will remain with the colleges during the admission process,” said a university official.

Once the admission has been approved by the college, the students have to login and pay the fee, instead of waiting in long queues. Three days time will be given for admissions under each list. However, the approved applicant is permitted to make online fee payment till 12 noon of the next day. Under the first list, the students can pay fee till July 3.
The university will release only five cutoff lists this year. For the students registered under the Children of War Widows, the admission process will begin from July 5 at the conference centre.
