‘Dynastic politics not unique to India’

The practice of dynastic politics is not unique to India, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Friday at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. In countries like the UK and the US too, the practice is not uncommon.

The practice of dynastic politics is not unique to India, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Friday at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. In countries like the UK and the US too, the practice is not uncommon.

“Of the 56 Prime Ministers in the UK, as many as 21 were related to each other and as many as six US Presidents are related to each other,” Mukherjee said. He added that it was natural for people of a family to join a profession that has been followed traditionally.
