According to officials, Yunus violated the model code of conduct by placing advertisements in Rashtriya Sahara, asking Muslims to vote for him. The advertisements appeared on April 27 and April 29.

“It was not an advertisement. He was just trying to depict the problems the Muslims are facing in Okhla. We will, however, send our answer to the notices sent by the EC,” said Manu Sharma, a representative of Yunus.

The FIR has been registered at Shakarpur Police Station.

Senior EC officials also cited other violations of model code of conduct by Yunus.

“The Delhi Police has clearly said that any candidate who requires protection can only avail it from Delhi Police. But Yunus was moving around with a UP Police personal security officer,” an EC officer.
