EC should have acted, says BJP

Former Union minister and BJP general secretary Vijay Goel said had the Election Commission (EC) taken action against law minister Salman Khurshid, steel minister Beni Prasad Verma wouldn't have dared the EC to take action against him when he declared that quota for Muslims would be increased.

Former Union minister and BJP general secretary Vijay Goel said had the Election Commission (EC) taken action against law minister Salman Khurshid, steel minister Beni Prasad Verma wouldn't have dared the EC to take action against him when he declared that quota for Muslims would be increased.

He said the Congress ministers were speaking against the EC as part of a thought out strategy and the EC erred in closing the case against Khurshid.

Goel said: "The EC doesn't have the right to acquit a person who breaks the moral code of conduct set by it even if the person is a Central law minister himself with a slight apology only."
