According to CBI sources, the accused SK Kaushik, visited the official residence of Inspector Vikas Pathak at the pretext of discussing the case with him. “The accused allegedly offered ‘prasad’ and ‘gangajal’. Alarmed by his presence, the CBI officer asked him to leave the place immediately. The accused, however, insisted that Pathak at least accept the ‘prasad’ brought by him. The officer declined to accept that also but the accused left the ‘prasad’ at his house,” said CBI’s public information officer RK Gaud.
But when the officer saw the packet left by the accused, he immediately contacted his senior officers. When the box of ‘Prasad’ was opened, below the two layers of sweets were six bundles of R6 lakh, said agency sources. The accused is absconding since the registration of the case against him.
