EOW to probe ‘cheating’

Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing Branch has started a probe against businessman Subhash Aggarwal after receiving numerous complaints against him at at Aman Vihar police station. Aggarwal disappeared on May 19, police said.

A man has been accused of duping thousands of people of crores of rupees by promising them handsome returns.

Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Branch has started a probe against businessman Subhash Aggarwal after receiving numerous complaints against him at at Aman Vihar police station. Aggarwal disappeared on May 19, police said.

The police said Aggarwal had cheated around 2000 people of Prem Nagar, Mundka and other nearby areas.

Aggarwal, a resident of Rohtak, came to Delhi four years ago and started a finance company ‘Stop Loss Commodity Private Ltd.’ He allegedly promised interest of Rs 1,000 every month for an investment of Rs 10,000.

“Initially he kept his promise. Later he took crores of rupees from investors and gave them cheques that bounced. When the investors approached Aggarwal he disappeared,” a senior police officer said.

Joint Commissioner (Crime) Amulya Patnaik said: “As many as 100 complaints have been received. A case will be registered after investigations.”
