The Delhi Traffic Police's Facebook page isn't just about exposing errant drivers in action. Thanks to its ever-expanding network of Facebook friends, the traffic wing is currently engaged in a little spring-cleaning operation within its ranks.

"Let me publicly complement a public spirited Facebook friend of traffic police who helped us nab a corrupt traffic cop almost red handed. A departmental action has been initiated against the corrupt cop and two of his superiors," wrote Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic) in a post on the Delhi Traffic Police page titled 'Facebook friend instrumental in catching the corrupt traffic cop'.

According to Garg, the said traffic police officer, identified as constable Sukhram, had accepted a bribe from a building contractor to stall the towing of one of his cement mixer.

"A citizen saw money changing hands and posted a picture of it on our Facebook page which helped in catching the accused,” said a senior traffic police officer.
