Fair opens for public, 70,000 visit on Day 1

The annual India International Trade Fair (IITF), where over 6,000 exhibitors are displaying a wide range of products, was thrown open for the general public on Monday, registering a footfall of more than 70,000 visitors.

This year, entry tickets rates have been raised by Rs. 10 to Rs. 50 for adults and Rs. 30 for children on weekdays. On weekends, they have been priced at Rs. 80 for adults and Rs. 50 for children.

After catering to business people for the initial five days, the fair has commenced for all visitors from November 19 to 27.

The first day of the exhibition for general public saw over 70,000 footfalls, an India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) official said. “We have made extensive arrangements in terms of crowd regulation, ticket sales, public convenience and safety security of the visitors this time,” he said.

The entry timings would be between 9.30 am and 7.30 pm on all days.

Besides the venue, the entry tickets are available at all Metro stations to ease long queues. There is free entry on non-business days for senior citizens and physically challenged, the official added.

For the convenience of commuters, free shuttle service is being provided from the parking facility to the fair.

As many as 487 foreign exhibitors from various countries like Russia, South Africa, Canada and Pakistan are showcasing their products. Last time, there were about 230 foreign exhibitors who participated in the fair. This year Belarus has been given the ‘partner country’ status and South Africa the ‘focus country’ rank at the fair.

The theme of this year’s IITF is “Skilling India”, projecting the performance of the Central government and state ministries, departments and private sector in the related fields.
