Few experiences are as enjoyable as an early morning bird watching expedition. A recent news assignment at India Gate provided the perfect opportunity to click the unexpectedly rich avian life in the area.

Nesting, cooing and chirping in the rich foliage, the birds here are a photographer’s delight. From the common Indian crow to the glorious yellow-footed green pigeon and the red wattled lapwing, you can find them all here. The presence of thick green cover, the water body at the Boat Club and the well-tended lawns all around ensure that amateur birders and photographers alike are often treated to a splendid flash of diving kingfisher or wading egret.
