The aMap ratings complied by the Mumbai based Audience Measurement & Analytics for the Common Wealth Games showed that 29,037,000 people watched the opening ceremony while only 16,439,000 watched the closing ceremony.

Similarly, while the rating for the opening ceremony was 4.27 at the highest, the closing ceremony only rated 2.46. The decision to go ad-free during the ceremony telecast did nothing to help the actual ceremony nor the broadcaster’s revenues.

DD officials admitted that the revenue for the closing ceremony was far lower the R3.8 crore they got in the opening ceremony.
