Five held for selling fake mobile phones

Five people have been arrested for allegedly selling duplicate mobile phones and accessories of a reputed telephone firm in the Capital, police said on Wednesday.

Five people have been arrested for allegedly selling duplicate mobile phones and accessories of a reputed telephone firm in the Capital, police said on Wednesday.

The five accused — Bharat Bhushan, Sachin Kamra, Bhajan Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Raghubir Singh — were arrested recently after the police launched a probe into a specific input that fake mobile phones of a multi-national firm were in circulation in the market.

The police conducted a raid at a mobile shop in Karol Bagh owned by Bhajan Singh and seized 161 duplicate Samsung mobile phones and other accessories.

Police also raided another shop of Bhushan's and recovered 130 duplicate Samsung mobile phones and 152 duplicate batteries. A similar raid at a shop belonging to Kamra also led to police recovering several fake mobile devices.

A total of 432 duplicate mobile phones, 1210 stickers, 51 displays, 2150 bodies, 139 stereo ear phones and 23 travel chargers of Samsung were recovered during the raids.
