In the budget projection for 2013-14, DDA’s major focus is on the development of land and construction of houses, followed by allocations for infrastructure development, maintenance of parks, building community centres and multi-storey wedding venues, etc. The expenditure and income has been projected at Rs. 5,448.47 crore and Rs. 7940.83 crore, respectively.

The DDA budget was passed on Tuesday. In the meeting, Lt-Governor and DDA chairman Tejendra Khanna said that a full monitoring chart with targets, timelines and deadlines should be ready for all the projects by the next meeting.

The DDA will carry out development work in areas such as Rohini, Dwarka, Narela, Jasola, Bakkarwala, Maidangarhi, Kirti Nagar, Paschim Vihar and Alaknanda, etc.

It has allocated a large sum for the maintenance of greens. Funds have also been allocated for the development of the Yamuna and Aravali biodiversity parks.

It also wants to build a corporate image and will sponsor cultural events in the city. R1 crore has been allotted for ‘enhancing of social values in Delhi’.

The agency will also start work on ‘Kalyan Mandapams’ — multi-storey and multi-functional venues — to cater to weddings and other functions. It has identified five sites and construction will begin soon. The mandapams will be constructed in Rohini, Dwarka, east zone and north zone at a cost of Rs. 50 crore.
