Fog disrupts air, train and road traffic

A thick layer of fog shrouded the national capital early in the morning, bringing down the normal visibility to a considerable low affecting the flights schedule and disrupting the road traffic.

A thick layer of fog shrouded the national capital early in the morning, bringing down the normal visibility to a considerable low affecting the flights schedule and disrupting the road traffic.

A large number of flights slated to depart for domestic destinations like Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Nagpur, Ahmedabad and Jammu were delayed, airport officials said.

Some arriving flights at the international airport were also delayed, they said.

The runaway visibility dropped to 125 m this morning forcing the authorities to initiate the sophisticated CAT 3 B landing system.

The low visibility procedure was initiated at the airport at 2:40 am, they added.

The normal visibility has dropped to about 50 m, Met officials said.

The train services to the capital were also affected due to dense fog.
