As part of its probe into the Commonwealth Games (CWG) corruption scam, the CBI has found that its Organising Committee (OC) had allegedly concluded a games contract— Games News Services (GNS)— with a Dutch firm at an exorbitant rate of Rs 9.47 crore. Though the cost of the services rendered by the firm was just Rs 59.56 lakh, the OC had paid around Rs 6.62 crore, CBI sources said.

As per the contract concluded between the OC and the Dutch firm in June last year, the latter was to provide a set of around 4,000 exhaustive profiles on the games' participating sporting contingents.
"The contracted firm however did not provide more than around 1, 500 profiles. Further, the OC had directed them to construct each profile on the basis of around 40 sub-points but not more than 20 points were covered by them," said an agency source.
The CBI is likely to file a case over the alleged irregularities related to the award of the GNS contract, said the source.
