The accused are Rahul Goel (24), who owns a plastic pipe manufacturing factory, his cousin Ashish Aggarwal (26), Vinod Arora (42) and a woman whose identity has been protected.

The arrests came after investigation into a complaint filed by a young businessman who owns a plastic granule factory in Mangolpuri Industrial Area.

"He was lured by the girl to a hotel room and videographed. The girl and her associates demanded Rs. 30 lakh not to make the video public," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur.

Goel, the alleged mastermind, had lost money in bad investments and betting on cricket matches.

"Goel knew the girl for the past few years. He roped in Aggarwal and they hatched a plan to entrap the victim. They bought a spy camera and then let the girl befriend the victim," added Thakur. Aggarwal runs a call centre in Shahbad Dairy.

Goel, Aggarwal and the girl were arrested from near Rithala Metro Railway Station on Saturday when they came to collect the first installment of the extortion money.
