The arrested persons have been identified as Vinod Kumar alias Lala, 47, the gang leader, Mohammad Wasim, 26, Sanjay Singh, 32 and Mohammad Intzar, 45. One country-made pistol with one live cartridge and three knives were
recovered from their possession, said police.
BS Jaiswal, DCP (outer), said they were arrested following information that some criminals would assemble in a park near the old power house in Mangolpuri phase-I with the purpose of committing a dacoity. "Lala is the leader of the gang and a proclaimed offender. He along with his other gang members had looted R35 lakh in 2008 in Delhi's cantonment area," said Jaiswal.
Further interrogation, Jaiswal said, revealed that in the month of May, Lala had visited a shop in Sector 5 in Rohini to purchase a bottle of water.
"At the shop he had seen bundles of currency notes and planned to rob the cash. But, before the plan could be executed, we nabbed them," he said.
