Each college has to reserve not more than 5% seats in each course under the Sports and ECA quota combined.

This year, students will fill the centralised optical mark registration (OMR) form to register for ECA quota, unlike previous years when students had to fill separate college forms for each college they wanted to appear for trial.

The university will start the online registration process for admission to undergraduate courses from June 1.

This year, students won’t have to run around to give trials at each college for the same activity. In a meeting between university officials and college principals it was decided that the trials for each ECA quota activity will be conducted cluster-wise.

It means that the trial for one activity will happen in one college and all students applying under that activity will give their trial at that college. Students can use the number allocated at the trial at all the colleges they are applying at.

“Trials for both Sports and ECA will be conducted activity-wise in separate colleges. For example, one or two college will be designated for let’s say Dramatics trial. All students will apply for that activity and will give trials at those colleges,” said SK Garg, principal Deen Dayal Upadhyay College.

Candidates seeking admission under this quota will have to submit winning or participating certificates from last three years.

Students will get 25% marks for certificates, while 75% marks will be for trials. There will be two levels of trials including preliminary and final.

“An applicant will have to score at least 50% marks in the trials to be considered for admission under ECA quota,” said Aryabhatta College principal Manoj Sinha.

The date for the preliminary and final trials will be notified and displayed on the college website.

To keep the process of trials transparent, the university will ask all colleges to videograph the trails and maintain record. “All trials will be videographed to ensure that the process is fair and no candidate is given undue advantage,” said a university official.

Students applying for ECA quota will get not more than 15 % concession in cutoff for being eligible to appear for trials.
