Government seeks people's views on public places in Delhi that need WiFi
To make Delhi a smart and connected city, the Narendra Modi government has reached out to people and asked them to 'identify major public places in Delhi that need a WiFi hotspot'.

While the suggestions are aimed to "make Delhi a smart and connected city", it is also among Modi government's new moves to augment people's participation in government policies and programme.
And the suggestions have come pouring in. At the last count, the government's e-interface, mygov.in, had received over 1,300 suggestions on the issue. While many have suggested WiFi in government hospitals and tourist spots, people also want the facility at popular streets and New Delhi railway station.
Another post demanded that WiFi connectivity should be provided to areas such Najafgarh, Jharoda, Nangloi, Narela and Mundka that are home to underprivileged class.
Many users used the platform to air views on their local problems, albeit on unrelated subjects.
Drug menace
The prime minister has also sought suggestions to tackle drug menace on Tuesday.
"During 'Mann Ki Baat' programme, I talked about many friends writing to me on the menace of drugs. I invite your views to mitigate the menace of drugs. If you have worked in this area, please share your experiences. I call upon NGOs to share their experiences as well," Modi said in a statement on Tuesday.
The move assumes significance as Modi's arch rival, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had flagged the rampant drug use in Punjab and offered his full support to curb the menace.
Modi asked people who do want to reveal personal experience in public, to write directly to him.
Altogether 17 such topics have been opened for public discourse in mygov.in.
The topics include reducing losses in supply chain of fruits and vegetables, tackling organised syndicates for begging, etc.
