Govt advisory: It’s too cold, shut schools all week

All government and government-aided schools will be closed from January 12 to 16, keeping in view the dipping temperature, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely announced on Monday.

All government and government-aided schools will be closed from January 12 to 16, keeping in view the dipping temperature, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely announced on Monday.

Schools have been advised to close classes nursery to VIII.

“A lot of time has been lost this year due to H1N1 cases, so classes IX to XII will continue,” said Lovely.

The MCD also announced closure of its schools till January 17. Schools in Gurgaon have decided to change school timings from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Most Delhi public schools have decided not to shut down. “We have just reopened today (Monday), we are not closing again,” said principal Usha Ram, Laxman Public School.

Principal Ameeta Wattal of Springdales School, Pusa Road said, “We will wait and see if the weather worsens.”

“We are not shutting but students are allowed to wear mufflers and caps,” said Suman Nath, principal, Tagore Interna-tional School, East of Kailash.

Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri, has decided to shut classes nursery to V till January 16.
