Govt claims 100% Aadhar enrolment

“The population of Delhi is 1.67 crore and Aadhar enrolment has reached 1.69 crore. A number of people from the NCR have also enrolled in our offices so, the number is higher than the population,” said Dharam Pal, revenue secretary.
The latest data available with the Delhi government shows that while 1.69 crore Aadhar enrolments have been completed, only 1.52 crore people have the card.
“Another possible reason for the increase is that a number of people have enrolled twice for the Aadhar card,” added Dharam Pal.
According to the Delhi government officials, those who are still to get their Aadhar cards can get a printout of their eAadhar card by logging on to www.uidai.gov.in.
“There are a number of people who approached us stating that even though UID numbers have been generated, they still haven’t received the card. We have set up various counters in our offices and at the same time people can log on the website themselves and get a printout of the card to avail various services,” said a senior Delhi government official.
Officials further said that they are prepared to link any of their government schemes with Aadhar as almost the entire population has enrolled.
“There is a small chunk of the population which has already enrolled itself but has not received the card. We are hoping that everyone will be able to get their cards within a month or so. Once that is achieved, we will be able to link our government schemes with the Aadhar cards,” said a senior official.
The Delhi government’s revenue department had made UID card mandatory for public dealing this year and it was followed by many other departments.
