In a written reply, he said, the NFAI has a scheme which includes digitalisation and restoration of films with an outlay of Rs 20 crore during the Eleventh Plan period.

The NFDC has also initiated restoration of their own and co-produced films, he said.

In an another question, the minister said proposals have been received from some Northeastern states and Goa to set up 'electronic news gathering' units in Doordarshan kendras.

He said the Ministry has already posted a regular Indian Information Service (IIS) officer at Doordarshan Kendra, Itanagar but such units cannot be set up in Shillong, Panaji and Silchar as there was no sanctioned post of IIS.
