After losing his vehicle on Monday from Narela, Singh had reported the theft to the police. The police traced it on Tuesday with the help of data received on the movement of the auto at the Operation Control Centre (OCC) of Delhi Integrated Multi-modal Transit System (DIMTS).

"Failing to trace the missing vehicle, the police officials contacted DIMTS at midnight for help in tracing the stolen autorickshaw. The DIMTS team started to keep a track on the auto at its OCC," said a DIMTS official.

On Tuesday at 10am, based on the data received at the OCC, the team figured out the location of the missing auto and informed the police. The police quickly swung into action and recovered the auto from Mehrauli.

A DIMTS official said, "Earlier, it used to take months or even years to locate missing vehicles, but with the GPS device we were able to locate the missing auto within a few hours."
