Panic gripped the busy Connaught Place area of the capital today when people heard sounds of gunfire.

Panic gripped the busy Connaught Place area of the capital today when people heard sounds of gunfire.
Police sources said it was a rehearsal programme by the army during which there was firing in the air.
People who heard the sounds mistook it for blasts.
However, army sources denied having conducted any rehearsal programme.
