Relatives of Namita Mehta, vice-president (HR) with with real estate firm IREO Management, have said she suffered from vertigo and would faint occasionally, the police said on Tuesday.

On Monday, the police was of the view that it was a case of suicide, though no suicide note had been found. Mehta had apparently scaled the four-feet wall to jump off the fifth floor, ACP (east) Sumit Kuhar had said. She was found dead on the ground floor of Orchid Square complex in Gurgaon’s Sector 53.

“Mehta’s relatives do not suspect any foul play nor have they asked us to investigate the matter on those lines. They have, however, informed our officials that Mehta was suffering from vertigo and would faint at times. I have asked my officers to examine the medical history of Mehta,” Kuhar said on Tuesday.

The police are also trying to find out what happened in the office on the last day. Though company officials claimed all went as usual on Monday, sources said Mehta had participated in two crucial meetings that day.

Former Gurgaon chief medical officer Dr N.K. Jain said people faint due to vertigo only when they suffer from cervical problems, brain infections or any disease related to ears. Some also faint due to vasovagal shock, a physiological condition caused due to restlessness and/or work stress, Jain said.

But a senior colleague, who did not want to be named, said Mehta was not under any work-related pressure.
