The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed an application moved by five accused in the Uphaar fire tragedy case, seeking permission to file additional written arguments in their defence.

“The arguments are concluded by the parties, the proceedings and hearing of the case is over and the court has only the judgment to pronounce. If after this stage, written arguments are allowed to be placed on record, there is no chance available to the other party (prosecution) to rebut the written submissions,” Justice S.N. Dhingra said.
Gopal and Sushil Ansal, and three of their co-accused had filed a petition earlier this month seeking the High Court’s intervention.
