Police said Kuldeep Singh alias Sonu (25), who was arrested after Monday’s encounter in Green Park, comes from a prosperous South Delhi family, reports Karan Choudhury.
His family’s net worth is around Rs 100 crore and he wanted to earn Rs 25 lakh a day.

Police said Kuldeep Singh alias Sonu (25), who was arrested after Monday’s encounter in Green Park, comes from a prosperous South Delhi family.
To achieve his goal of earning a fast buck, robbing banks was the only way, police said.
A Class X dropout, Sonu was staying with his family in South Extension Part-I. His father owns four shops in plush areas like Khan Market, INA Market and Lajpat Nagar.
Police said Sonu and Nadir, an Afghanistan Embassy official's son, provided Satte with information about people in South Delhi.
Sonu first met druglord Sharafat Sheikh at a bar in Greater Kailash-1. “Sonu was also in touch with Sharafat’s second wife who resides in Okhla. He even got bullet injuries in CR Park area when he was attending Sharafat’s birthday party in 2005,” said a senior police officer.
The police alleged Sonu used to give part of his booty to his father. But the father denied all charges against him and his son.
“My son is innocent. We have four shops and our family is prosperous, my son does not need to commit any crime. The police are framing him. They shot at my innocent son,” said Jaswant Singh.
Sonu is in a critical condition at the trauma centre at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
