The constable has been identified as Ram Kewal Yadav, who is a resident of Ghaziabad. Yadav was hit by the accused biker, who the police claim was speeding, around 7.45pm in the Civil Lines area.

“The motor cycle rider, identified as Akram, 42, was also critically injured in the accident and both were rushed to a nearby hospital where Yadav succumbed to his injuries and Akram is recuperating,” said a senior police officer.

According to the police, Yadav was on foot and was on his way to his office for night duty when Akram crashed into him from the rear.

“We have registered a case against Akram and are waiting for him to be released from hospital so that he can be arrested,” the officer added.
