Heavy rainfall in Delhi, more predicted

Delhi and its adjoining areas were lashed by heavy rains on Sunday. The MeT Office has forecast more rains during the day.

The day began on a sunny note but by mid afternoon rain clouds burst in the capital and the adjoining districts of Gurgaon (Haryana) and Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), causing traffic jams in some areas.

"We are getting many complaints of traffic jams due to choked drains," a Delhi Traffic Police officer said.

The minimum temperature Sunday morning was 27.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 34 degrees Celsius.

Humidity at 8.30am was 79%.

Saturday's maximum temperature was 35.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, while the minimum was 27.6 degrees Celsius, a degree above the season's average.
