Reacting to HT’s ‘Raid the Office’ series, which exposed how touts operated openly at regional transport offices (RTOs) and helped applicants get a driving licence for Rs. 2,000 without taking the computer and driving skill tests, Delhi transport minister Arvinder Singh set up four enforcement teams on Wednesday to keep an eye on the RTOs.

He also said that each RTO would now have a helpdesk for applicants.
The minister said the teams would visit the RTOs regularly and keep a vigil on their functioning. “Action will be taken against any unauthorised person inside the premises of the transport office. The enforcement teams will also register an FIR against any tout found operating even outside the RTO premises,” he said.
