Police have recovered cartons containing toothpaste tubes valued around Rs. 9.5 lakh, a truck that was used in the robbery and a country-made pistol with live live cartridges from the arrested robber.

Manavvar, also known as Afsar, a native of Hapur in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested when he had gone to dispose off the stolen goods near Majnu Ka Tila in north Delhi. The police acted on a specific input that a member of gang of highway robbers, who had robbed a truck of toothpaste cartons from Dudu near Jaipur on January 16, is attempting to dispose off the goods at Majnu ka Tila.

“Manavvar was arrested with the stolen goods. During interrogation, Manavvar revealed that he, along with his associates, were proceeding from Jaipur towards Ajmer. Near Dudu, they spotted a loaded truck parked along the road near toll tax in an isolated place. The driver was found sleeping in the cabin. They overpowered the driver and robbed about 225 cartons of toothpaste,” police said.
