Dikshit was effusive about the Delhi Metro, its former chief E Sreedharan and the present Managing Director Mangu Singh for giving the national capital a "gift and a present which is unforgettable."

Addressing the 18th Foundation Day celebrations of the Delhi Metro, the chief minister said the organisation has grown leaps and bounds in the past 18 years and credited it with bringing in a different work culture.

"We have an ambition -- every government department and employees become as efficient as the Delhi Metro. Everyone should think they should be like Delhi Metro and achieve more than that. Delhi Metro is a role model," she said.

She said the proposed Mono Rail project in the national capital would be executed by the Delhi Metro which has already begun work on it.

Dikshit said since Metro trains cannot reach every part of the national capital, the government planned to build a monorail network so that people areas where Metro is not available can use of this modern transport.
