From the next day onwards, all such dairies will be sealed and the animals will be seized.

Many households in the city consume milk from the local dairies which they assume is fresh and contains more nutrients. This local milk which is more expensive is delivered door to door by the milkman.

"This system has been prevalent for years but in a city like Delhi, this leads to the problem of stray cattle which is why these dairies have been banned," said a senior official of North Corporation.

Dairy owners who have been allotted space at Goga Dairy have been asked to take possession of their space before the stipulated time, failing which their allotment will be cancelled.

The unified Municipal Corporation of Development had set up the Goga Dairy in order to remove cattle menace from the city.

As a result of this stringent action, they expect all the cattle to be sent to the dairy leaving the streets of Delhi free from stray animals. The three corporations in the past one year have already shut 900 illegal dairies.

Dairy owners have however been refusing to shift to Goga Dairy located near Narela as it does not have water connections. With the deadline however, these allottees will be forced to shift their dairies to the new address.

The decision to set August 15 as the deadline was made at a recently held meeting by the corporations.

In an important move, the corporation will also be sealing commercially run properties from August 16 for failing to pay conversion charges.

A report on the total number of defaulters has already been prepared by the North Corporation.
