A day after the government’s view of the proposed lokpal bill became clear, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley disagreed with the idea of a Lokpal notice to a public servant before embarking on an enquiry against him.

Prior warning, he said, would enable him to destroy evidence.

He said prior approval of Lokpal must be necessary before changing a probe officer, to ensure that inconvenient officers aren’t replaced by the government.
