“I am an unsuccessful politician, but that has made no difference at all to me. I am in upper house for so many years ... nearly 20 years without belonging to a political party,” he said.
Jethmalani, who had contested the last Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow against former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, said politicians had “let down” the country.
“I would speak truth to my foe, friend and neutral allies. I have to say that the politicians of this country have let us down,” he said at a function to release a book.
The senior advocate said though he has been “unsuccessful” in politics he was truthful to everybody.
Jethmalanai also had an advice for laywers who aspire to enter politics when he said, “If you want to be successful in politics then go for criminal law, as your growth would be very fast in that and I wish you the best.”
