Vinod Gupta’s shop is located in Dariba Kalan, Kotwali. The police said they suspected some of his former workers could be behind the theft.

“We have questioned three of his former workers and have leads. A case has been registered,” said an officer. Gupta said he locked the shop on Saturday evening before leaving for home. “Sunday is an off day and I locked the shop properly. When I returned at about 11 am on Monday, I found the lock open. The shop had been ransacked and the safe had been broken into,” said Gupta.

The police said Gupta’s shop help, Devrat who quit a few months back, could have hatched the plan and opened the shop using a duplicate key.

“We have questioned the neighbouring dealers but they haven’t given any leads. It appears that the robber knew exactly what was kept where,” said officer.
