A joint team of officials from the CBI and the Income Tax (I-T) have started examining more than 5,800 tapped conversation of corporate lobbyist Niira Radia with politicians, corporate honchos and others.
A Supreme Court bench on February 22 had ordered formation of special team to scrutinise the conversations to see any element of criminality in it.
The six-member team — five from CBI and one from the I-T department—has been formed to see if there were any elements of criminality in them. The team is headed by a deputy IG-rank officer.
“The team started its work a week back,” said a CBI source.
The conversations were tapped by the I-T department after a complaint was received against Radia that within a short period she built a business empire worth Rs.300 crore.
