Judicial custody of Soumya's killers extended by 14 days

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kiran Bansal sent the five, including key accused Ravi Kapoor, who have been booked under stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA), to jail till June two after they were produced on expiry of their judicial remand.

Police had on April eight invoked the MCOCA against Kapoor, Amit Shukla, Baljeet Malik, Vijay Kumar and Ajay Sethi after the investigators allegedly found their complicity in more than 50 heinous offences.

They were arrested in March this year in connection with the murder of Soumya and call centre employee Jigisha Ghosh.

Soumya, an employee of Headlines Today news channel, was found shot dead in her car on September 30 last year while returning home from office.

Ghosh (28) was killed in the wee hours of March 18 while returning from a call centre. The recovery of the weapon allegedly used in the murder of Ghosh led to the cracking of the killing of Soumya case also, police claimed.
