Raids were, meanwhile, conducted at the hotel and residence of Dharamsala- based businessman, KP Bhardwaj on Sunday, after his arrest on Saturday night.
The unaccounted money, stuffed in a sack, was being transported to Dharamsala when it was confiscated by the police at the Mehatpur barrier on January 26.
The incident had sparked off a series of raids at the premises of some Tibetans at Sidhbari near Dharamsala, leading to the recovery of Indian and foreign currency amounting to about Rs 6 crore.
SP Santosh Patial told HT that an Indian national and his Tibetan wife had kept the donations in safe custody at their residence in Majnu Ka Tilla.
The money was reportedly received from Bodh Gaya, Ladakh and other Buddhist religious places.
